Enterprise Mobility—are you in for the ride?

in Enterprise

There’s a lot of positivity to the way investors and manufacturers are approaching enterprise mobility. A reiteration of that lies in KNOX, Samsung’s recently launched enterprise software innovation, aimed at helping enterprise customers manage ‘work and play’ on a single device itself.

The move is set to pitch Samsung, world’s largest selling smartphone manufacturer, directly against what once was a predominant Blackberry sphere. Samsung’s by now made a budding presence in the enterprise mobility space by its ‘Safe’ Android architecture, and with KNOX, it aims for the next level.

Its worth noting that only last month did BlackBerry, for the first time ever in its operating history,  open up its much coveted enterprise mobility framework to non-native platforms like the iOS and Android.

It’s evident: the recognition for mobility trends like BYOD, BYOA is in the ascendancy. Despite evident IT challenges, enterprise mobility is making its way into the enterprise. A recent Gartner survey states that a quarter of all enterprise level organizations shall provision for propriety private apps stores by 2017.

All in all, enterprise mobility has a serious market in the making. And for good reasons: as an enterprise, it makes sense to allow employees to get to the Internet with access to real-time data. With the utility of Cloud, scalable solutions to be used collectively by thousands of enterprise employees can, and are, being made feasible.

The user front already lives by the ‘there’s an app for everything’ adage. While there’s no dearth of generic apps on Android and Apple App Store, those are not specifically the provision business users require.

Such users need channels to interact deeply with enterprise data. That calls for a provision to network with key performance indicators—schedules, sales, orders, clients, deliveries, logistics etc.—in a safe, customized environment. Providing such environment is beyond the scope of generic apps or traditional app development.
